A Review of 2017 and Looking Forward into 2018

Happy New Year! I write this letter filled with gratitude as I reflect on the significant impact Pure Water for the World has been able to have on the lives of thousands of vulnerable children and their families over the past 18 years. Our successes are only possible because of the profound dedication and generosity of committed supporters!

What began as simply installing water filters, now includes the implementation of comprehensive WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) programs, complete with water filters, latrines and handwashing stations, water sourcing and source protection offerings, safe hygiene training, and monitoring practices to support long-term sustainability.

Committed to reaching more families with safe water solutions than our implementation teams can do alone, we have continued to focus efforts on sharing our WASH expertise with others, providing an ever-growing catalog of WASH training and consulting services.

Last year was a transformative year for the almost 14,000 children and adults PWW teams were able to serve directly. Our teams served 1,650 families and 31 schools with life-changing safe water solutions. The WASH training teams had a strong year, conducting 28 workshops and training almost 1,000 people on topics ranging from building a biosand filter, to managing safe water and hygiene in response to an emergency. YOUR support makes this work possible!   (NOTE: Details of 2017 results can be found in the charts below.)

Looking ahead, highlights of our goals for 2018 include:

  • Continue to deliver on PWW’s mission to improve the health and livelihood of vulnerable children and families, living in underserved communities, by delivering comprehensive safe water, sanitation, and hygiene programs.
  • Invest time and energy internally, with the goal of improving the efficiency and effectiveness of our team (i.e. advance training manuals and organizational planning, enhance project management tools and processes).
  • Further expand WASH training programs to reach more countries in Central America.
  • Grow the volunteer Community Agent program to include additional training and expand to offer potential income opportunities.

As invaluable members of our team, we always welcome your input, ideas and involvement. Contact us anytime at info@purewaterfortheworld.org or 802-747-0778.

We invite you to make 2018 your year to personally deliver lasting change by joining us in Haiti and/or Honduras. Learn more about our experiential trips here.

We absolutely cannot do this work without you. On behalf of all of us at PWW and the families we are fortunate to serve, thank you so very much for your continued partnership.

Wishing you and your loved ones a very happy, healthy, and prosperous 2018.

With gratitude,

Carolyn Crowley Meub
Executive Director
