Malawi Freshwater Project
In November, 2009, Pure Water for the World® announced a new partnership in Africa with the Malawi Freshwater Project. Founded in 1995 by a local fireman, Charles Banda, Freshwater Project has constructed more than 2,000 borehole wells and more than 5,000 pit latrines for the poorest people of Malawi, a small country in eastern Africa. As the Freshwater Project fiscal agent, Pure Water for the World is now accepting donations for Freshwater Project. These donations will build more wells and latrines and continue facilitating the Freshwater Project’s training programs as the Malawian communities they serve take ownership of their water projects.
Charles Banda is featured in Amy Hart’s documentary film, Water First, a strong portrayal of this courageous man’s dedication in providing clean water to the people of Malawi. (www.WaterFirstFilm.org for more information).
