Our Volunteers
Our projects really work well because of the efforts of our volunteers. These volunteers are professionals who have given of their time, talents, and energy to help us better serve the rural poor in the countries where we work. Our first volunteers almost happened by accident and really found us – Amy and Owen Reese. They were interested in the Peace Corp but things take too long and have a lot of red tape. They were looking to help out with water projects because of their training and experience and tracked us down. As they say, the rest is history. They helped us understand how critical the insights of professionals from North America are to help administer our projects and make them function well. They have given us quality control and continual input on how to constantly be improving what we do at any project. As a result of their input, obtaining and incorporating volunteers into our projects is an important part of our program.
Please visit our Get Involved page if you are interested in volunteering with PWW.
At the top of her resume, Amy Reese had a quote from Winston Churchhill that very accurately captures what compels people like these to step forward and give so much.
“We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give.”
