Why the Matching Grant offer? Bill’s personal story:
My first encounter with Pure Water for the World (PWW) was five years ago when my Rotary Club was supporting a clean water project in Haiti, a country my wife, Phyllis, and I had been personally supporting for 20 years through my Methodist Church. All I knew about PWW was what I had read, and it was impressive.
One year later, I had the opportunity to travel with PWW to Haiti to see their local Haitian team in action, implementing each phase of their comprehensive safe water program, which includes a simple, yet effective, clean water filter, community-wide hygiene education and training, water quality testing, and continuous monitoring evaluations and follow-up support.
I had seen many good organizations in Haiti, but nothing matched the PWW program in terms of proven results and long-term sustainability. What moved me was not just their comprehensive process. It was the deeply personal commitment of the PWW Haitian staff. They are very capable, educated young people, who are dedicated to improving life for the people of their country.
I have now traveled with PWW to Haiti six times. I have built personal relationships with the team. And the people of Haiti are in my heart. I have witnessed significant progress in the health conditions and opportunities among the people, young and old, because of PWW’s program. They will change Haiti! They already are!
